You might see OneNote failed to start with following error message displayed
OneNote is unable to start. This may be caused by insufficient hard drive space or by insufficient write permissions for OneNote’s notebook cache files in you user setting folder. Try to delete any unnecessary files from your computer and then try starting OneNote again. If this message persists, contact your system administrator. Error code: 0x45D
Solution for OneNote 2007
- Open explorer and go to folder %USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalMicrosoftOneNote12.0
- Rename OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache to OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache.bak
- Start OneNote again.
Note: you might need to mark view hidden files and folders to see the folder in step #1.
Update
May 17 – Some of you ask how to fix this in OneNote 2010 so here is it. For OneNote 2010, change the folder in step #1 to
%USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalMicrosoftOneNote14.0
and the rest steps are same.
